Welcome to the TGD Season 6 Conversation Starter Kit!

Welcome to what may be the shortest post in State of the #Shea history!

(Apologies in advance for the subpar quality of my screenshots)

As previously mentioned, we’ve had a growing list of tidbits to work from over the past 6 weeks or so… promotional pics, episode titles, episode synopses… and if history is any indicator, a “sneak preview” clip will make the rounds by late afternoon on Monday 10/3. (Perhaps accompanied by a Freddie Highmore interview.)

The pieces of the puzzle are getting more plentiful, but there’s only so much we can do with them until another Monday or two goes by. Soooo…

What I’m offering here is a landing spot for all the pre- and post-episode speculation to come while I take longer than everyone likes to write up the “Afterparty” analysis. If you’re game, look through the various questions I’ve posed (and tried to answer)… and join the conversation via the comments.

Or you can just read through what I and/or everyone else says, and marvel at what we get kind of right… and terribly wrong!

Let’s get started—

1) How long will we see wedded bliss on the St. Bons rooftop in the season opener?

I say under 3 minutes (can’t imagine it lasting beyond the opening credits). Of course all the little reception things we might have hoped for–bouquet toss, cake cutting, karaoke– have no chance of happening now. At least we’re resigned to this fact, some 5-6 months after the wedding finally came together.

2) How long until Lim (and Villanueva, if she’s not already a goner) get into surgery?

Gotta be by Act 4, right? They find them in Act 2, try to stabilize them in Act 3 (this pic)… will surgery be going on while the hostage situation takes place?

3) Speaking of which… Who are the three hostages he speaks of in the promo?

Looks like Morgan, Asher, and…some no-name expendable who gets shot before it’s all over?

4) How long until the hostages matter gets resolved/Villanueva’s ex gets apprehended?

It’s a strong part of the drama and suspense in the episode, so… maybe by 10:45 Eastern Time? (AKA 45 minutes into the episode)

5) Will Park be involved in the rescue and/or apprehension?

We haven’t seen him in any “action” aspects of the promo like we do with Andrews/Glassman/Jerome; it seems possible he’s instrumental in a way the show doesn’t want to show us yet.

6) What specifically leads to the DON’T TOUCH ME! moments with Shaun seen in the end of the promo?

Shaun seems to be one of the first to find Lim; we can see briefly in the promo that a fellow doctor (Glassman I think) is forcibly taking Shaun out of the OR when he’s in great distress… my guess is that the immense stress of the entire situation (the medical emergency PLUS the hostage situation, both involving people he cares about) is the biggest contributor. (And that’s partially deduced from the official synopsis, so maybe no big mystery here.)

7) Why is Lea seen in scrubs, crying?

I’m assuming she has to “scrub in” in some fashion to assist in the OR when the situation becomes desperate. And that she’s crying about whatever fate looks to be headed Lim’s way. (Remember, though, Lim is not DYING. That’s been made clear.)

8) Shifting gears a little…

We’ve been hearing about Danni/Danny (the new recurring characters for S6) for quite a while– how eager are we to finally “meet” them-? Not in the season opener, but in its follow-up?

Me? I’m ready. A lot has been made of the changes coming in S6 and I want to get these first impressions ASAP.

9) Are we all at peace with the fact that there are no Lea pics in the promotional shots for “Change of Perspective” (second episode S6)?

We’re at a place where we see Lea on the regular, and she was of course a very busy IT director/bride in the back half of S5. While I don’t think the lack of pics means she’s AWOL in that 2nd episode, I know the focus will be elsewhere and I’m okay with that.

10) What guesses, if any, do we hazard to make regarding either that 2nd episode title (“Change of Perspective”), or the 3rd one (“A Big Sign”)?

Extra-difficult to speculate on these without having seen “Afterparty” yet. You’ll probably do a much better job, that I, so have at it!

In any case, isn’t it nice that “A Big Sign” will NOT be about… this Big Sign?

OK- the floor is yours, dear readers! Speculate and input away!
